Equinix LA4

EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA

Equinix’s El Segundo data center (LA4) is a single-story tilt up building. This data center provides 177,469 sf. of total space, including 62,159 sf. of colocation space and flex space of 11,800 sf. The colocation floor is able to bear a floor load of 250 lbs per sf. and includes a N+1 power infrastructure. The data center is LEED silver design, and an Energy Star certified facility. 

PARADIGM was originally requested to take over the structural design of Phase I, which included the addition of new air handlers atop a second floor and associated supports for duct distribution to the data floor. PARADIGM was subsequently contracted to assist Equinix with Phase II and Phase III expansion requirements with the “Air Handler Barn”, followed by phased design of this existing facility.

The facility is a 16 MW facility located in El Segundo only two miles from LAX. It is connected to LA3 which provides connectivity to Tokyo, Japan. PARADIGM was selected to assist in the design of all three phases to provide continuity in the structural design for this and other facilities.
